At Book in a Box we know that reading is THE most integral part of the curriculum and getting children to foster a LOVE of reading is at the heart of it! We believe that ALL children should have regular access to high quality texts they can love and cherish. We wanted to create an exciting and easy to use service which regularly provides good books for children from all backgrounds.

As a current Class teacher and Literacy Leader I am kept constantly up to date with, and understand the importance of high quality texts. All the books sent will be age appropriate and challenging, taking the hassle out of making sure your children are accessing the right books for their age - whilst also covering a range of genres.

We are extremely passionate about reading and know the impact it can make to all children's lives. By giving the gift of reading we hope to engage more children and give them exposure to high quality texts to help them on their reading journey.

Please take a look around our website and if you have any further questions please do not hesitate to contact us. You can also find us on Facebook and Instagram to keep up to date with what we are up to.

Meet the Team

Clare is the founder of Book in a Box. She is a current Year 5 Class Teacher and Literacy Leader in a small school in Wiltshire. Clare saw the worrying data identifying the gaps between disadvantaged children and their relationships with books and reading, compared to their peers and wanted to make a change.

She is passionate that reading for pleasure should be instilled by a young age and that reading is a fundamental life skill. All children should have access to good quality books to support their learning journey, that they are allowed to treasure and keep as part of their home library.

Growing up, Clare fondly remembers reading 'Goosebumps' and Enid Blyton's 'The Wishing Chair' and 'The Magic Faraway Tree' collection. As a young adult she was particularly taken to 'The Hunger Games' series.

Katie oversees the day to day running of Book in a Box. She is responsible for our admin tasks as well as picking, packing and posting orders to their new homes. Katie has years of experience working in a school environment, as well as a love of books - making her the perfect Book in a Box employee.

As a child, Katie passionately collected all of the Animal Ark series and as a young adult LOVED the Harry Potter books- a            love which she has instilled in her now 13 year old daughter.
