Book in a Box works with local authorities and Virtual Schools who are using their Pupil Premium Plus budget to fund Book in a Box for their Looked After Children.

Book in a Box is a company set up by a Primary School Deputy Head who saw a need to supply high quality reading material for the most vulnerable children in the country. It is thought almost 500,000 children do not own a single book of their own and we know that the ability to read is the single biggest indicator of a child’s future success . We are extremely passionate in ensuring that all children have access to high quality material that is theirs to treasure and keep.

Schools use their Pupil Premium Grant or Pupil Premium Plus grant to fund Book in a Box for their most vulnerable children. Although budgets are tight – to me there is no better way to spend money to develop and enhance children’s educational needs and experiences. Not only do children look forward to receiving their own post each month, it also means they can build their own little library/ book collection of their own. Tracking the impact of using a 'Book in a Box' is easy - as children are more engaged and excited to talk about their special book delivery they regularly receive.
